  1. I made this for the 2012 Pick A Chef in the Contest forums. I wanted to try this since I am looking for ways to satisfy my daughters cravings for this type of food. I refuse to buy the canned junk of this like Manwich which is disgusting personally. I did not put all of the green pepper in it since I am trying to sneak it into her food without her realizing exactly what she is eating. I thought that it was a bit bland, I think it needed more of something. However my daughter ate two helping of it and declared its the best she has ever eaten. So it is a plus in my books. I think this would be a good recipe to sneak other vegetables into your kids food without them even knowing it.

  2. I liked the texture of the meat. It was not falling apart. But it was a little bit too tomato-taste for us. Next time I'll use less tomato paste or sauce and maybe add ketchup in it for the sweetness. It was great with some cheese and a little bit of mustard for me. Thanks One Little Deer :) Made for PAC Fall 2011

  3. We really enjoyed this recipe. My family loves sloppy joes and this recipe had a nice balance of spices. My only question was on the amounts of tomato sauce (8oz) & tomato paste (14oz). I wonder if they didn't get switched. I followed my instincts & used a 15oz can of sauce & a 6oz can of paste instead. I was only using 1 lb of ground beef, but I still had to add about 3/4 cup of beef broth in order to incorporate the paste & have something leftover to simmer. Aside from that, these were delicious sloppy joes. I served them with Recipe #183081. Thanks for sharing another great recipe, One Little Deer! Made & enjoyed for Spring 2010 Pick A Chef. You've been adopted! :) http://www.recipezaar.com/bb/viewtopic.zsp?t=327498&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

I grew up in an Iranian household, where cooking was a three generation affair. After spending countless hours with my grandmother and mother in the kitchen I found I picked up on some of their skills. Add this to the fact that I've lived all over the world, I've learned to create my own style drawn from my family and the many global culinary experts I have met along the way.
