We thought this was pretty good. I didn't have any white wine, so I used beer, and I also didn't realize I didn't have any cider vinegar, so had to use white wine vinegar. The only other thing I changed was to add a tad bit of butter and I also fried up a tiny bit of bacon and put some of the drippings into the cabbage. This added a little more flavor. This was a great use for leftover ham, and I couldn't beleive even my 1 year old ate both the cabbage mixture & the ham!
Found this recipe to be just okay. Didn't have caraway seeds, so left them out and added onions with the cabbage. Just didn't think it was too flavorful.
This recipe was included in Book#228608. June 2, 2008 -- Absolutely delicious! The sauteed apples gave a sweet flavor to the dish that my son loved. I especially liked the tangy flavor the vinegar provided. This is a terrific meal filled with great flavor and a heaping serving of vegetables as well. Oh, I did add a little sliced onions which I fried up with the cabbage. Thanks for posting this winner, Lainey!
