  • In a medium mixing bowl, cream butter or margarine, sugar and corn syrup. When well combined, stir in cinnamon, cloves and baking soda mixture. Slowly add flour and mix well after each addition until dough becomes stiff. Cover dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm, approximately one hour. This time is included in the preparation time.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. On a floured surface, roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness. Using a reindeer or desired shaped cookie cutter, cut shapes into dough. Dough can also be rolled into logs about 1-inch in diameter and sliced crosswise into 1-inch-thick rounds.
  • Bake on ungreased cookie sheets until lightly browned, about 8 to 10 minutes.

  1. Made for KK's Cookie Exchange Event. Ohhhh my goodness if they make cookies like this in Denmark it is well worth moving there...lol. I enjoyed the crispness and flavor of these treats that were cut into stars and glazed with dragees at each of the points. Especially nice for the Holiday gift baskets. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

  2. My husband especially loved these cookies (I would give them 5 stars myself). They are so spicy and yummy. We couldn't help eating them warm out of the oven so they were nice and soft. These smell so heavenly when they are baking. I was out of corn syrup so I substituted dark brown sugar with a couple of Tablespoons water. Other than that I followed the recipe. Wonderful Wonderful recipe. Thank you for sharing Lauralie41

  3. Unlike Jellyqueen, I was less happy with these. They did, indeed, smell wonderful but the finished cookies were more rock-like than crisp. Required dunking--and once softened in coffee or milk, were flavorful but the texture was really off.

  4. Really great cookies. I just rolled these into logs and cut and cooked, but I can see where they would make wonderful little cut out cookies. Made my whole house smell like Christmas!!!
