"Here you have a verity of flavored syrups. Use them anywhere you want an enhancing sweetness to any degree you wish. Flavors are shown in the directions. They would make nice gifts in pretty bottles.Times differ for the flavors but I had to put something in the time slot."

  • FLAVOR DIRECTIONS:

  • 1. In a small saucepan combine water and sugar. Bring to a boiling, stirring to dissolve sugar. Remove from heat. Cool to room temperature. Cover and chill at least 2 hours or up to 2 weeks.
  • Chamomile-Lavender Simple Syrup:

  • Prepare as above except stir 1/4 cup chamomille lavender herbal tea blend in with the sugar and water. After removing from the heat, let stand at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours. Strain after cooling.
  • Basil Simple Syrup:

  • Prepare as above except stir 1/4 cup snipped fresh basil in with the sugar and water. After removing from the heat, let stand at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours. Strain after cooling.
  • Mint Simple Syrup:

  • Prepare as above except stir 1/2 cup snipped fresh mint in with the sugar and water. After removing from the heat, let stand at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours. Strain after cooling.
  • Ginger Simple Syrup:

  • Prepare as above except stir 1/2 cup sliced fresh ginger in with the sugar and water. After removing from the heat, let stand at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours. Strain after cooling.

  1. What fun! I've made simple syrup any number of times, but never thought to flavor it with herbs. I used lemon thyme and a few leaves of pineapple sage. Wonderful in iced tea and also in hot tea. Will make more before we have a hard frost.
