Delicious and soo easy!
- 680.38 g boneless beef short ribs
- 5 small onions, peeled and cut in half
- 118.29 ml low sodium beef broth
- 236.59 ml tomato sauce (I used zesty pasta sauce)
- 2 garlic cloves, smashed
- salt & fresh ground pepper
- Preheat oven to 400°F degrees.
- Lay short ribs on a rack in a roaster; sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
- Roast for 20 minutes until well browned and fat has drained into the pan.
- In the meantime, peel and cut onions in half. Veggie spray the bowl of the crock pot, place the onions cut side down on the bottom of the crock pot. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Pour the beef broth over and spread half of the tomato sauce on top of the onions. Remove short ribs from oven; cut each strip in half and lay on top of the onion/tomato in crock pot.
- Sprinkle the smashed garlic over and spread the remaining tomato sauce over the ribs.
- Cook on high for 2 hours, reduce heat to low and cook for about 3 hours, until the meat is tender.
- Serve over mashed potatoes, rice or noodles with veggies on the side.
Made this for the first time yesterday and it came out great! Very simple and easy
5 stars for sure - I used a tin of Italian style stewed tomatoes instead of the tomato sauce and I added small nugget potatoes 1 hour befor serving. Then I fork mashed the potatoes with some of the wonderful flvoured sauce over them. The meat was fork tender & moist. Definitely a do again recipe thanks Derf for posting
Very good short ribs - I used a can of diced tomatoes and chiles instead of the tomato sauce and it gave it a nice kick. I shredded the leftover meat and used the leftover broth with onions to make a wonderful soup (Iadded some fideo vermicelli, too).
