Dorothy, my husband loved this meatloaf, he said it kind of tasted like pork. I think it was the thyme and the beef broth. He wasn't crazy about the topping, so he just scraped it off. Thanks for a good meatloaf recipe!

I made this meatloaf last night and it turned out fantastic. I used half ground beef and half ground deer meat and it was wonderful. Also, I am known for my meatloaf not staying together (crumbling) and this stayed together nicely. I served this with mac and cheese and brocolli cauliflower mix. Delicious meal, thank you.

Great tasting and moist meatloaf. Right up there with the best I have made. The topping I found very sweet. It mellowed out after baking. I added dry minced onions and a little liquid smaoke to the topping.

Everyone loved it. I even got to use up some Italian flatbread crackers from Christmas that no one liked. :) I scraped off some of the sauce, but liked a touch of it. Thank you for an idea with leftovers!

This meatloaf was delicious!! I didn't have any thyme on hand, but other than that, I followed the directions. This meatloaf held together very nicely, and the flavor was outstanding! I was very excited to eat it when I took it out to put the sauce on because it smelled amazing. This will be my go to meatloaf recipe! Thanks for posting!

Yum--family and I loved this meatloaf. Moist, tender, great flavor. I love a sweet ketchupy topping, so this was perfect for me. Thanks, Derf.

Really liked this. Made per instructions with standard sauce. Ending up eating very late though because the total cooking and prep time was off (1 1/4 hours when it should have been 2 hours according to instructions and my experience cooking). Submitted a correction to have the time adjusted to reflect recipe. Thanks for sharing.

Very delicious! I don't really like my mom's meatloaf, and this one makes a great replacement! DH loved it, too, which means it goes in the repeat file!

I HAVE FOUND A KEEPER! :) Rather than doubling, I 1.5'd the recipe, using 2 lbs of beef and 1 lb of ground pork, 1 C club cracker crumbs and 1 slice toasted wheat bread, and 3 eggs. I also added about 1.5 Tbsp of Worcestershire. For the topping I used 1/2 ketchup & 1/2 BBQ sauce. I shaped into 2 loaves, expecting to have sandwiches. No Such Luck! My family RAVED as they gobbled it all up! It slices Wonderfully and tastes fantastic! I saw another poster mention that she had never used sage for meatloaf. Me neither, but it gave a fantastic, savory flavor. I also used someone's suggestion to grate the onion, as my son hates onion and I didn't want him to know it was there. Next time I WILL double the recipe and use all beef, as I don't think this needs the pork. Thanks, Derf, for this fantastic recipe! :)

The meatloaf is wonderful. I loved the topping but my husband likes a spicy ketchup topping rather than a sweet ketchup topping. So we are compromising with this loaf and a different topping. Very tasty meatloaf!

This is the 2nd time I've made this meatloaf. It's wonderful and my new "go to" recipe. I really like how much the meatloaf stays in pieces. Tomorrow, I can make salisbury steak w/the meatloaf, add some cream of golden mushroom soup and serve with mashed potatoes. Thanks for a great recipe

Oh my goodness this is good. I hate meatloaf and my DH loves it so I am always looking for a recipe that will please us both. I have found the perfect recipe. I have never cooked a meatloaf that has held it's shape when taken out of the pan and sliced. The spices give this the perfect taste all the other meatloaf recipes I have made were missing. I served this with Derf's Stove-Top Scalloped Potatoes also a 5 star keeper recipe. Thanks for sharing. I will make these two again.

I started to make this meatloaf and realized I was out of egg's but I just went with it :) I used Ritz crackers and I have to say this was the most moist and flavorful meatloaf I have ever made family loved it! I thought the topping was a little to sweet but It did not change the fact that the meat was delicious!!!

Super recipe. My family loves it. I've lost count of the number of times I've made it. Easy and tasty.

Pretty good! I followed the recipe exactly. I must admit it was difficult to keep the slices together, and also it tasted a bit too 'bread-y'. I suppose I should try it again with half the bread crumbs. Thank you!

What a great tasting and easy to prepare meatloaf! I normally use oatmeal instead of bread crumbs but this loaf wasn't the least bit dry. I used dried Italian flavored crumbs, dried onion flakes, fresh sage and topped it with Bennett's Chili Sauce. Made 6 dinner portions and 3 large sandwiches the next day. ABSOLUTELY DE-LISH!!

I tried this recipe only because my son makes it a lot and raves about how good it is. And he was right - it was very good. Quite a change from my typical tomatoey meatloaf - but a good change. It tasted even better the next day when I had leftovers in a sandwich.

Fabulous meatloaf! I try different meatloaves all the time but DH says this is THE one. Made exactly as written. This is a keeper. Thanks Derf.
