This recipe saved me when I forgot to buy pesto at the store for a recipe I was making. The recipe didn't call for mayonnaise pesto, but I knew it would go well in it (it was sandwich-ey). This made the dish and saved the day! I'd bet that it tastes even better if allowed a day for the flavors to meld and the dried basil to soften. If I make it again, I'll use a bit more garlic, too.
