This stuff is great. I've been making this for several years. I always use an 8 oz. carton of cool whip and a 16 oz. carton of cottage cheese. I add a small can of drained mandarin oranges, a small can of crushed pineapple, a jar of drained maraschino cherries, and nuts, either chopped pecans or sprinkle it with some of those nuts that come in a can that you can get to put on sundaes. I usually get fat free/low fat cool whip & cottage cheese, and sugar-free jello. You can't taste the difference. My husband also likes to add coconut flakes.
5 stars for ease and taste. I used lime jellow and followed the recipe as written. Next time I'll stretch out and try adding fruit and different flavors of jello to find a favorite.
I used orange Jello and added some mandarin oranges in with the crushed pineapple. The taste is really good, but the little curds of cottage cheese kind of weird me out. I'll probably make it again but leave out the cottage cheese. Thanks!
I make this using peach jello and sliced peaches. It is great.
Sugar free strawberry jello is what I used to make this and it came out perfect! I needed a salad for DD's Dinner Theater the musical was *Once Upon A Mattress* Made for *Zaar Cookbooks Tag 2008* game
This is easy to make, but we were not that excited about it. I made it with lime jello, so perhaps that was a mistake, but the directions did say any flavor. If I make it again, I will add the ingredients "molly" suggested. Thanks for sharing.
Great standby jello salad. This is the one that shows up at church potlucks regulary and always gets eaten. Kids like this with mini marshmallows added.
this was good and quick. i used rasp/cran jello and put raspberries, strawberries, bananas and walnuts in it. mmmm mmm. i loved the nuts. it was a little grainy though. maybe from the cottage cheese and a little too sweet so i added in some plain yogurt and a little unflavored gelatin. it didnt get firm? i dont know if it was suppose to but it was very tasty. thanks for a fun treat.
YUMMY! I'm so glad I found this de-lish dessert. EXTRA Low calorie if you use "COOL WHIP FREE" and "SUGAR FREE Jello"(+ low fat/cal cottage cheese)! Wow, this is GOOD! We had it served over small slices of angel food cake! Thank you!
