I got a recipe from my sister for granola bars when I didn't know what to make for snack one day. I made some of my own changes and this is my version of it.

Used this as a guideline during my first experiment making granola bars. Works well, and you can make pretty much whatever kind of granola bar you want. Just substitute the "fillers" you want (dried fruit, nuts, marshmallows, etc.) For mine I used a brown sugar oatmeal (just to clarify you use the dry oats, not the cooked cereal) and added 1 c. of raisins. I think you could also adjust the amount of oats to rice cereal as long as it still added up to 5 1/2 cups total. Next time I think I will do more rice cereal and less oats. Thanks for the recipe.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 cups oatmeal
  • 1 12 cups crispy rice cereal
  • 12 cup mini chocolate chip
  • 12 Skor English toffee bit

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Melt butter or margarine.
  3. Stir in brown sugar until dissolved.
  4. Stir oatmeal and cereal into butter and sugar.
  5. Stir in Chocolate chips and Skor bits, or any other tasty fillers you would like.
  6. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Pack oatmeal mix into cookie sheet.
  8. Bake in oven for 10 minutes.
  9. Cool, and cut into 24 pieces.
