Awesome recipe! I've been making mashed potatoes like this for many years, and have one little suggestion. After draining the potatoes and returning them to the warm pan, let them rest to allow any extra moisture to steam off. Allowing them to dry out a bit first, makes for fluffier mashed potatoes later ; )
Very good. I actually roasted the garlic (and a small amount of shallots) in a saute pan, and then added butter to the mixture. Then, I strained the butter into the mashed potatoes. Not exactly following the recipe, but still so glad I found this recipe!
The best! I've done about every variation...roasting the garlic, sauteeing the stuff; even grilling it in foil on the BBQ. This is hands down the best--and so easy. Just subtle enough (depending on how many cloves you use (I do one fat clove per potato). I love them crushed/mashed...not whipped to meringue. My 8 guests raved and begged for the recipe. Used organic unpeeled red potatoes, butter, 1/2 and 1/2, and regular garlic. A KEEPER of a recipe.

Delicious! My family loves garlic mashed potatoes and they really loved these. This is how I always make my garlic mashed potates (except I usually add a little more garlic). These were nice and creamy with a subtle garlic flavor. I made this as written, using half-and-half instead of milk. Yummy!! Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe!
Very good potatoes! I love that the skins are not peeled and I love the subtle garlic flavor. What a great idea to mash the garlic into the potatoes! I served them with "Emily's Sloppy Joes". I usually make French fries with sloppy Joes, but tonight I made mashed potatoes and I'm glad I did.
I thought these potatoes were very good. And I really like that you leave the skins on...it just makes them look better. I made this exactly as written, and they turned out perfectly. I made these for Photo tag game! Thanks for posting!
So nice to find recipes that use unpeeled potatoes! The only change I made here was to use lemon pepper (which also has garlic in it) instead of the usual S&P to taste! I also cut the cloves of garlic into quarters, & they mashed however they mashed, without mincing them! VERY, VERY TASTY DISH, & a very worthy KEEPER of a recipe!
