One word ~ "DELICIOUS"!!! Made as written with a couple of adjustments, I seasoned the stew meat with Cavender's All Purpose Greek Seasoning (salt free) then browned without the flour, only used 32 ounces of beef broth and about 1 1/2 cups red wine, cooked on high for the first hour then switched to low for 5 hours, after adding the pearl onions and button mushrooms in place of peas, switched back to high for the last 2 hours, I thickened the sauce with a cornstarch slurry mixed with a teaspoon of Gravy Master. Perfect beef stew so tender and flavorful! Thanks for sharing the fabulous recipe. Made for Mommy Diva's Cook-A-Thon 2012 ~ Fight Like a Girl!

Mmmmm, very nice! I used regular gravy mix and brown onions because I couldn't get either of the listed varieties locally. Only other change I made was using around a tablespoon of cornstarch because I like stews fairly thick and it made a great one-dish meal.

Excellent! I used beef chuck pot roast I used all of the ingredients as written except i used Tony Cachere's Cajun spice mix rather than the brown gravy mix. I made this in a clay pot and cooked it in the oven. The pearl onions were something that i have never cooked with and i used them here-- loved them. This recipe is a keeper and i will make it again. I enjoyed this but I had to move it to the stove after 6 hours on high for another hour or so to reduce a bit. I also needed to add alot more corn starch in order for it to thicken. Next time I make it, I'll be cutting the liquid back a bit, and starting it the night before so it has a long time to cook. I have a pretty large crock pot, and I find it to be on the hot side, and it was almost full to the top. Makes a ton!

Wonderful stew! I used fajita meat and added turnip, rutabaga, and fresh pearl onions. I also used regular brown gravy mix and Merlot for the wine. My potatoes were a mix of purple, red, and white baby potatoes that I cut in half. We really enjoyed this and will make it again. Thanks for sharing. Made for ZWT7-Switzerland.

Well, I guess I can only echo what everyone else has said. In short, this is one great stew! Myself and my 3 guys wiped it all out in one sitting!

As the title states, this was simple. And it was very tasty with all the wonderful vegetables and herbs set against the flavorful worcestershire sauce and red wine. And the brown gravy mix not only added more beef flavoring but also served to thicken up the stew nicely. Thank you for sharing your recipe, Mommy Diva. Made for Zaar World Tour #6.

I made this for yesterday's dinner and we all enjoyed it a lot! I made my gravy thicker like Peter J and also browned my onions. It came out sooo good! I also used canned peas! And I left out the Worcestershire sauce and the wine. I'm not a big fan of Worcestershire and I didn't have any wine. Thanks for sharing, it was a great dinner and will be eating the leftovers tonight! :)

Made for Holiday Tag 2007. I followed this recipe exactly as written, except that I could not find Tony Cachere's Cajun Brown Gravy Mix so I had to use a regular brown gravy mix. This really hits the spot on a cold winter night. I put everything in the crock pot in the morning, and when it was time for dinner there was a delicious, satisfying meal waiting for me. I will be making this often during the cold months ahead. Thanks for another great recipe, Chelle.

Good stew!! I made this as directed with red wine, but couldn't find the specified brown gravy mix, so I used a peppercorn brown gravy mix instead. I think I must have filled my crockpot too full because I had trouble getting the potatoes to cook all of the way through in this timeframe. Very good taste with lots of veggies. Thanks Mommy.

I found me a new stew! This was fantastic. So easy to make and had wonderful flavors. I'll be making this all winter for sure. I love my crockpot, and this recipe goes right into the cookbook! Thanks for sharing. Made exact and it was delish! ~V

This stew was very good. I left out the wine and worcestershire sauce (because I didn't have any). I would make this again.

This had a very nice flavor. I didn't cook it in a crockpot, but cooked it on the stovetop for about 3 hours. Also, I used a combination of beef broth and red wine vinegar for the red wine. Made for ZWTIII
