(Cannoli alla Siciliana) Purchase cannoli shells in Italian bakery

Ingredients Nutrition

  • For the Filling

  • 3 cups ricotta cheese
  • 12 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 14 cup cinnamon
  • 12 unsweetened chocolate squares, grated or 12 tablespoon cocoa
  • 12 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 tablespoons citrus peels, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons orange peel, candied, chopped
  • 6 glace cherries, cut up


  1. Mix ricotta thoroughly with sifted dry ingredients.
  2. Add vanilla and fruit peel. Mix and blend well. (A little grated pistachio may be added if desired).
  3. Chill in refrigerator before filling shells.
  4. Fill cold cannoli shells; smooth filling evenly at each end of shell.
  5. Decorate each end with a piece of glazed cherry and sprinkle shells with confectioners sugar.
  6. Refrigerate until ready to serve. These are best if they are filled just before your company arrives. Serves 12.
