This is my Sicilian grandmother's recipe. Absolutely delicious. Best served with meatballs, Italian sausage and veal; it's an excellent marinara sauce.

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, add olive oil and saute the onions and green peppers. Combine the remaining ingredients and simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes to one hour (cook slowly over longer period of time for the best flavor). Stir frequently to prevent burning.
