DH and I had fantastically fresh scallops and shrimp. Since we'd eaten them plain the night prior, we wanted a pasta dish that would accent (rather than overpower) great seafood. This was perfect! To cut down of calories, I subbed the olive oil with butter and skipped adding it to the sauce later. *Make Sure* you have a light crusty bread to soak up the sauce. It's a very delicate sauce worth scooping from the bottom of your pasta bowl!
This is excellent!! I used Bay scallops instead of sea so I didn't need to cut them. I also used to more cloves of garlic because we love garlic in this house. I did serve it over linguini. Delicious and easy to make. Thanks lucy k.
Great Dish! Thanks for the recipe and the reviews! Made the dish as a surprise and it delivered! To thicken the sauce, I seasoned about 3 tablespoons of flour with old bay and pepper and in a separate bowl, mixed the flour with scampi Sauce after step 7. ( I used 1/4 cup of the cooked sauce to create to create a rue). I added the rue with the butter, lemon juice and cooked for an additional 3 minutes. It came out great! This is a must keep recipe! Really enjoyed it! BTW, I also used more garlic and used Bay scallops and added parmesan cheese to the sauce. Great taste! Thanks again
Delish...... but I did change a few things. I decreased the red pepper to 1/4 tsp, i added half and half with the chicken broth and stirred the parm cheese into the both. It is a watery broth but it makes the bread yummy. The taste is great but I am going to work on the consistency.
I have to say I followed this recipe to the tee. Turned out GREAT!!! Yes it's watery, however, white sauce is suppose to be watery. I also used bay scallops(small ones). I also added 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese to the sauce. The flavors are out of this world. I LOVED IT!!!
This had a delicious flavor. Although when I made it, it was very watery and I had to remove the seafood (I used frozen)and thicken it with the parmesan and a little cream. But, this did not take away from this excellent recipe. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome Recipe!!! made this for a romantic night with my wife ;) It was perfect served with linguini and garlic bread. Little less onion that called for, would like to try making it with jumbo shrimp… Gr8 recipe thank you everyone at recipezaar !!!!
Lovely Christmas eve dinner, like another reviewer I cut down on the amount of onion, I also cut the recipe in half which didn't hurt it at all. I also didn't have any parsley which didn't seem to affect it at all. I served it with sour dough bread and salad, we didn't need pasta or rice although it would be nice with it. Thanks for an easy, tasty appetizer or main dish.
Our New Years eve dinner guests loved this dish. I made some modifications though to suit my tastes. Much, much less onion. I used maybe a quarter cup of onion, no wine at all. Used 4 tbsp butter mixed with the oil at the start, then added another 4 tbsp butter while shrimp and scallops were cooking. Thanks Lucy k!
Just do it . You will not be disappointed. The flavors are addicting. Says it serves 4 - ha! - more like 2 hungry adults who happen to love shell fish and scampi flavors! Wish I'd doubled this, as DH and I are looking around saying, "More?" You better bet this will go into the rotation, especially when seafood is on sale. Thank you for the recipe, and thank you for all the reviews.
