I found this in Sunset years ago and have made it often for parties. I mix it right it the serving pitcher so it's quick and easy. Use Torani vanilla syrup, or similar brand, the type used to flavor coffee, and a big 1.5 liter jug of the cheapest red wine you can find.
- 1 cup vanilla-flavored syrup
- 2 oranges, thinly sliced
- 1 lime, thinly sliced
- 1 cup orange juice
- 2 (750 ml) bottles dry red wine
- ice cube
- In a 3 quart or larger pitcher, combine syrup, orange slices, lime slices and orange juice.
- Add wine to pitcher; mix and pour into ice-filled glasses.
I used a Pinot Noir and this was exceptionally good! Doesn't have to sit before serving and it's very smooth tasting.
This is very good!! I love sangria...and this recipe is close and soooo simple to prepare! Thank you!! This will for sure be made again!
This drink was absolutely wonderful....so refreshing on these hot humid summer days. I did make one sub....I used raspberry syrup in place of the vanilla syrup...that is just a personal preference.
