Great Christmas bread and easy to make in the bread machine. If your bread machine has a light cycle, use that instead of the basic cycle. Recipe ripped from an old Woman world magazine

This was the second panettone recipe I've tried this Christmas. The first was less than sucessful. I used the dough cycle because I wanted to bake the loaves in mini-loaf pans. I found out with the first batch that my bread machine doesn't signal for add-ins on dough cycle. The second time I added them a few minutes before the end of the second knead only to make an batch that was beautiful on top and an ugly, soggy mess on the bottom. Third time I removed the dough a few minutes before the end of the knead cycle and massaged the fruit (and pine nuts I added) in by hand. That worked. Baked for 25 minutes at 350 and coated with butter when removed. Beautiful.

  1. BREAD: Place ingredients in bread machine baking pan in order listed in manufacturers directions.
  2. Set machine for basic cycle.
  3. When cycle is finished remove bread from pan; cool for 30 minutes on wire rack.
  4. GLAZE: Combine confectioners sugar, lemon juice and milk.
  5. Pour over loaf.
