- 236.59 ml dark molasses
- 1 egg, beaten
- 177.44 ml boiling water
- 2.46 ml baking soda
- 295.73 ml flour
- 29.58 ml shortening
- 118.29 ml brown sugar
- 1 9" pastry shell
directions
- Dissolve soda in hot water; add molasses and egg.
- Combine sugar and flour and rub in the shortening to make crumbs.
- Pour one-third of the liquid into an unbaked pie crust. Add one-third of the crumb mixture. Continue alternate layers, putting crumbs on top.
- Bake at 375: for approximately 35 minutes.
