I think you did a good job customizing the traditional Shepards Pie. The added flavors and textures worked well. The only changes I made were to add 1 Teaspoon of Thyme, 1/2 Cup Carrots, no lentils, and used Irish Rooster Potatos. I did add the jalapeno. The family loved it, and I am sure this will make it to the regular rotation. This is a good recipe for breaking up the work as you can do all the prep work and then pop it in the oven whenever you get near mealtime.
