This is a barbecue sauce for steak originally from the Weber Grill folks. Brush a little of this on your steak before removing it from the grill and all your guests will wonder what your secret is! We are so addicted we can hardly eat a grilled steak without it.
- 1⁄2 cup dry red wine
- 1⁄2 cup ketchup
- 1⁄4 cup dark molasses
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon celery seed
- 1⁄4 teaspoon cumin
- 1⁄2 cup water
- Whisk all ingredients together, bring to boil in medium saucepan, and simmer 45 minutes until thick and reduced to about 1 cup of sauce.
I made this sauce today (for dinner tonight)... but I don't know whether I should call it BBQ sauce, or steak sauce? Either way, it is very good. I mixed it with shredded chicken (because that is what I had available), and I made sandwiches using toasted hamburger buns. I do plan to make this again, but I will probably tweak the recipe a tad bit. Thank you for posting this recipe. Made for PAC - Spring 2013
We use one full cup of red wine and no water! This is a really outstanding sauce and as it says, it's from the Weber Grill cookbook. We strongly recommend this sauce its really the best steak sauce we have ever had. Pour a little on each steak before serving! enjoy!
