My interest in serviette folding was born on a wet day at my Grandmother's house, I was a pre teen and helping her with the ironing and watched while she ironed serviettes into wonderful shapes and neatly stacked them for use. I asked her to show me how and she did. Once you know several folds and people see them, they often have at least one other that you haven't seen before, you gain knowledge of the new one and on it goes. Now that I have already posted all the napkin folds I know, I decided to look on the net for some new ones to learn. This one looks very elegant on a plate.

You're making me look like a pro when before I'd just shove them into a napkin ring and call it a day. ;o) Thanks again!
Directions See How It's Made
- Lay your serviette out flat before you.
- Take the top left and bottom left corners and fold them over to meet the top right and bottom right corners. You will have before you a vertical rectangle with the crease on the left.
- Take the top right corner and fold it to the center point of the serviette (only a small amount) so that you now have a small triangle in the top right corner. Repeat with the top left corner and then the bottom left and right corners. You should end up with a triangle in each corner and a large square section in the middle.
- Take the bottom point where the bottom two triangles meet, and bring it up so that the point is in the centre of the serviette. Repeat with the top point. You should now have a square shape with a top and bottom triangle each pointing into the middle.
- Image a horizontal line in the center of the serviette where the points of the triangles meet. Carefully fold your serviette BACKWARDS along this line. Once you have done this you will only be able to see the bottom triangle. The point of that triangle will still be pointing upwards.
- Carefully stand the serviette up, holding the two triangle points (one on the front and one on the back) in place at the center top fold. Now with your other hand, go to the top right corner (of the top fold line) and push down on the end so that it folds inwards on itself. The top right hand corner should go all the way down to the center of the bottom of the serviette. This will produce two triangles on the right side.
- Repeat the last step with the left side. You will now have a triangle shape with two triangle flaps on each side.
- Ease the top left and the top right triange flaps towards each other in the middle. you will now have a pretty standing fan of four pleats that can be carefully placed on a plate.
- Arrange a small flower in the centre of the pleats if you wish.
