Loved this recipe. Added cubed tuna steak, sliced water chestnuts, a few pieces of alaria (seaweed), an eight ounce bottle of clam juice, and a few splashes of fish sauce (and no soy sauce). It was really delicious. A great "base" recipe I've returned to a few times since.
This is SO good! I just substituted panfish fillets cut into pieces that we catch, cut into pieces, instead of the seafood. Marvelous! I will certainly be making this again, and probably with the seafood.
This is indeed a very good base. I added shredded cabbage and a little bit of cooked brown rice to make it heartier. I also added more lemon juice and a dash of fish sauce as a personal preference. I used a frozen seafood mix, which made it very easy and affordable.
I really enjoyed this soup! So light and flavorful. Loved that I could have seafood and not spend a fortune, because of the small amounts required. The red pepper flakes gave a wonderful bite of heat, and the lemon zest was perfect. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful recipe!
Made this for lunch and delicious! I did add some pea pods, mushrooms and a half of scallion that I needed to use along with a few udon noodles. The flavors meld together wonderfully. Definately will go in my Favorites of 2010. Thank you.
Anyone loving Asian and seafood should give this soup a go! Have to agree with the previous reviewers it's amazing and packed with flavor. Made as posted. Served with Dotty's Cheese 'n Onion Bread ( Bread Machine) several weeks back and about ready for a repeat. Yes it's that good! Another plus - it has eye appeal making for great presentation. Thank you Mikekey.
Yum! We loved this. It was packed full of flavor. I made as posted using the fish sauce and for an added garnish I sprinkled a dusting of toasted sesame seeds on top. I served it with a nice piece of bread and some butter. Thanks for posting. :)
This soup has an amazing flavour. I used half soy / half fish sauce. Just wonderful! I would say though, that the serving size is very small even if used for an appetizer, I would say this would make 4 servings for an appetizer. I would suggest to make extra. Made for Photo Tag
Amazing soup, have made it a few times now, and realize that the low sodium is key, or it comes out too salty. Simply awesome
