Excellent scones - light and fluffy, perfect crust. I agree, make sure the tray is hot.

      Thanks for the great recipe.

This makes nice traditional scones, although the original quantity of 1 cup of milk was too much and I have submitted a correction to 1/2cup of milk instead. Lovely with jam and cream!

Sorry, maybe I did something wrong but I bake alot and never get flops. I new something was wrong when i was pouring the milk in as the dough was too wet so I didn't add all the milk and had to add extra flour. I had the hot tray, kneeded it lightly, and they came out horrible, doughy and hardly rose. My hubby only ate one to be kind and my kids didn't finish them. I was baking them for a friend who was coming for tea, thank goodness she cancelled !!!!

These were lovely scones Sara. I used 1/2 the recipe and made 7 beautiful scones. I shaped the scones into stars and hearts. They were perfectly cooked, crisp and crunchy on the outside and fluffy, light and tender inside...simply delicious. They were enjoyed at breakfast with Dalmatian Fig & Orange Spread, Whipped Cream and English Breakfast tea. Thanks so much for sharing this treat.

Word of warning if using fan forced oven set for the 10 minutes, I set oven at 200C and set timer for 15 minutes DH asked me if I had set timer, went to check 2 minutes to go, checked scones, get them out of there - 10 minutes I think would have made them perfect but they tasted really great for afternoon tea. DH had butter, golden syrup and cream, the DS and DM butter, diabetic strawberry jam and cream and me just butter and cream. I got 10 scones out of the original roll and 2 out of the scraps. Thank you Sara 76, made for Recipe Swap #20 - September 2008.

Well Sara 76, Flo's plain scones should be just as famous as the pumpkin ones! These are the best soft light scones that I've ever made. Not having to rub butter into the flour is a bonus too. Followed the recipe and served with jam while still warm (wish I'd had some cream to go with them). Thanks for posting, this is my new favourite scone recipe.
