I got this from my friend Laura. It's her grandmother's recipe. A friend gave her this recipe 1952 and it has a been a staple at the family gatherings since. A Schneider family gathering would not be complete without at least a triple batch!
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1⁄2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1⁄3 cup ketchup
- 1⁄4 cup vegetable oil
- Mix all ingredients until creamy and smooth.
- Serve with potato chips, corn chips or pretzels.
I am not going to rate this recipe with stars because I think there may be a typo in it. I really wanted to like this dip. My family loves to entertain and we're always looking for new appetizer recipes, but this was way too salty. I wonder if maybe I was supposed to use garlic powder instead of garlic salt or if maybe the amount is wrong. There was no way I could eat this with salty chips. Sorry Martha! UPDATE: Martha found an error. Garlic salt should be 1 teaspoon rather than 1 TBSP. I will try this again and update at a later time.
