Scatch and Sniff Water Colors

My budding artist needs "paints" constantly. In order to keep up with her talents, we need to be creative with what is in the house

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 tablespoon powdered drink mix (unsweetened is best)
  • 1 tablespoon water

  1. Mix the water and drink mix in a small mixing bowl.
  2. Paint on paper the way you would with any watercolor paint.
  3. Use different drink mixes for different colors (grape, cherry, lemon, etc.) Let paint dry overnight before scratching and sniffing.

Great fun, especially when your young one wants something to do! I love it!

GORGEOUS! I just made and used some of this homemade watercolour using one packet of Tropical Punch flavour of Kool-aid. It gave me a blood red colour when mixed with water. I used it to paint a little picture in a magazine and I will leave it to dry overnight. This is a beautiful idea and pretty inexpensive also. I just thought of something: To get white colour paint, one could use powdered milk just as one would use powdered drink mix for getting various colours of paint. If only my little friend, Abi was in town, I would have gifted this to her and she would have been over the moon. I'll do it when she gets back! THANK U, I really found this very cool!!
