Spring PAC 2009: YUMMY!! This is a flavorful pasta - I subbed petite diced tomatoes for the sun-dried ones - delicious!

Nice pasta dish. I had to use bacon, as pancetta is a bit pricey here. I also omitted the gorgonzola, since I don't care for it. No jarred tomatoe available, so used dried. Baked it for 30 min. which was just right. :)

Another winner. The suace on this is great. I might add a little more sun-dried tomatoes and pancetta next time but definately will do this again. It was a little dry so I will just not cook as long next time. Perfect for a brunch. Made for Fall PAC 2008.

Loved the combination of cheeses and the pancetta was a nice addition. I think the baking time could be reduced by 5-10 minutes, but that could just be my oven.

This recipe was OK for us. We are relatively new to sun-dried tomatoes until this contest, but I don't think we really cared for them in this dish. I couldn't really taste the gorgonzola cheese in this so I think it could be omitted. I did like the addition of pancetta, though, and the croutons. They both were a nice touch! Good luck!

Sinful and savory, delicious and decadent, and rich rich rich! I loved this dish, a good, creamy sauce filled with flavorful bits of pancetta and sun dried tomatoes. I would definitely make this again.

The flavor of the sauce is INCREDIBLE and on its own a contest winner. My PSLH (picky Stouffers-loving husband) had snuck a couple bites before it went in the baking pan and said it was definitely five stars. After baking he dropped his personal rating to three stars, saying it was dried out and that he wished it was "saucier" like the Stouffer's Mac and Cheese. I think if the mac n'cheese and "creamy" weren't mentioned our expectations would have been different. In Step #2 it says to use a medium saucepan but then in step #9 there's a major problem; the saucepan is already halfway full and there's no way a pound of pasta would fit. We ended up reheating the pot in which we cooked the pasta which made us wonder if this should have been half a pound of pasta, which would have kept the dish creamier. (To win this needs different proportions: more sauce or less pasta.) Also, ours was thoroughly heated and lightly browned after only 30 minutes in the oven. We loved the croutons on top. Like I said before, the sauce is outstanding and brings our overall rating to 3.5 (rounded up to 4); despite the expensive ingredients, we'd make the sauce on its own again to spoon over chicken or pasta. This froze and reheated in the microwave well, so is a recommended OAMC recipe.
