directions

 • In an electric mixer bowl, add all of the ingredients except the water.
 • Mix until butter is broken down into the size of peas.
 • Slowly add the water while the mixer is running. It should form a ball when ready after adding 1/3 cup water. If not, slowly add more water (1 Tbsp at a time) until it does.
 • This dough freezes very well. For sweet pies, you can omit the cheese and it still works very well.

 1. After making this with extra sharp cheddar, 1/4 t pepper, 1/2 t rosemary, and reduced oil, this turned out excellently. Easy to roll too - I'll never buy a pie crust again. Definitely use a pie shield though, because this browns quickly.

 2. I made this vegan and used it for a vegetable pot pie. Delicious! Just the right balance of flakiness and substance.

 3. Yummy for my quiche! Made enough crust for two pies, so I froze half of the dough & had it for the next time I made the quiche. The best part of all of this is that it was so easy to make. Thanks for posting this.

We own a small ranch located in Napa, California. We used to be considered odd because we grew most of our food and lived frugally. Now we are viewed as trendy- go figure!

Anyway, we raise chickens for meat and eggs, have tons of fruits and vegetables and do it all without using pesticides or chemicals.

We also cook almost everything we eat from scratch. It takes a lot longer, but ours is the house that everyone wants an invitation to dinner at.
