Savory Crockpot Chicken With Vegetables

"My children gave this a thumbs up, and I felt that finally I had an excellent slow cooker recipe. This tastes delicious, is all natural, and easy to prepare. I improvised on a camping recipe that I found somewhere and ended up with this. Forgot an ingredient: one ripe tomato that goes into the slow-cooker whole."

directions

  • remove skin from thighs and drumsticks, leave the skin on the breasts.
  • wash and dry the chicken (I use an old towel) and sprinke with salt and pepper.
  • chop onion, carrot and potato coarsly.
  • wash the garlic head and trim a bit off the top and bottom without breaking it apart.
  • heat the oil well and lightly brown the onion on a strong flame in a large shallow skillet or sautage.
  • add the carrots, and continue to cook until carrots get a bit of a golden edge.
  • turn on the slow cooker on high and set for 3 hours, then transfer the onions and carrots to it.
  • sprinke some salt and pepper over the vegetables and give them a stir.
  • add bayleaves, garlic and tomato.
  • without washing the pan from the vegetables, brown the chicken pieces in it.
  • transfer the chicken to the slow cooker.
  • discard fat from the pan.
  • pour the wine in the pan while pan is still hot and transfer the the liquid into the slow cooker.
  • sprinke paprika over chicken.
  • add boiling water carefully on the side so the paprika doesn't wash off the chicken.
