I've never really used cocktail onions for anything other than appetiser trays so was intrigued to try this...is a nice blend of salty & sweet & tangy..nice for something different..thanks for posting!
I omitted the sugar but other than that followed the recipe. Very easy to do. And it tastes so good with the bacon and onions. Thanks AZPARZYCH :) Made for Make my recipe tag game
I love green beans and I really loved these! I just used a yellow onion and cut it up into medium sized pieces. I enjoyed the slight sweetness from the sugar. I have already made these twice! Thanks for the recipe.
It would never have occurred to me to use cocktail onions, but they were lovely! What a tasty dish this is, enjoyed very much for PRMR tag game, thank you, a new twist on a popular vegetable!
These were phenomenal! I didn't have cocktail onions, so substituted pearl onions. I was afraid they might be underdone, so I cooked them a little longer and broke them up a bit. Otherwise I followed the recipe, and they were delicious. No leftovers with this recipe! Thanks for sharing.
After seeing the awesome photo I just HAD to make this. It tasted as good as the photo. Yummmm
LOVED THESE BEANS!!!! I have a recipe similar to this so I knew I would more than likely enjoy these with a few changes to my recipe and it didn't disappoint!! I did sub canned cut green beans, so less than a lb and also didn't have the jarred onions and used fresh red onions, sliced!! I used 2/3 - 3/4's of the sugar and 3 slices bacon and all of the thyme and just loved the beans and the contrasting flavors. To me anything that has bacon is just all the better. Thanks for sharing your recipe and new way to cook wonderful green beans!!! Made for PAC Fall 09!!!

I made this with center-cut bacon and thawed, frozen green beans. This is one of the best grean bean recipes that I've ever had! The flavor of the bacon permeates, but doesn't overwhelm, the dish. Magnificent.
