This is a very simple and tasty dessert. Great when apples are not as good as you expected.
- Peel the apples, cored them and cut into slices.
- Sautee in butter and sprinkle with sugar until they are delicately brown and caramelized.
- After caramelizing add wine and cook for 5 minutes.
- You can serve plain or sprinkle with cinnamon and a dab of whipped cream.
This was a nice simple dessert that I really enjoyed. I never thought of myself of a big apple fan, but I definitely like them cooked like this. I only used two apples, and guessed on how much of everything else to use. I used 1 tbsp of butter and 1/4 cup of brown sugar & wine, and the amounts seemed to be right on target. I actually used white zinfindel wine...I had bought a tiny single serving bottle for when my mom comes over, but kept forgetting to take it out when she was over. I opted for this rather than opening a bottle of Chardonney, and it turned out just fine.
