    This recipe adds a bit of entertainment to old-fashion dressing. It is a recipe that has been in my fiance's family for decades. I am not a big fan of sausage, but my fiance made me try it last Thanksgiving, and I was hooked! So, even you non-sausage lovers will enjoy this. It is wonderful for the holiday season. Enjoy!

    • 1 lb sausage
    • 1 large white onion, diced
    • 5 celery ribs, diced
    • 5 cups cornbread
    • 3 cups white bread or 3 cups whole wheat bread, cubed
    • 1 teaspoon sage
    • 3 1/2-4 cups chicken broth
    • 2 eggs, beaten
    • salt and pepper

      Brown sausage with onions and celery.

      Mix remaining ingredients thoroughly in large pan.

      Add sausage, onions, and celery after draining; let sit over night in refregerated area.

      Bake in oven at 375 degrees until golden brown.

      Can it be? stuffing that is better than the main course? This recipe has been made in our family for years. Instead of the cornbread and bread crumbs we use the Pepperidge Farms seasoned cubes. It gives the stuffing a great flavor. I've tossed in a little hot mustard if the brother-in-law is coming over, or chopped craisins if grandma is coming for dinner. Umm mm good!

      I had not seen this recipe on 'Zaar until today. I agree with previous posters that this is THE ULTIMATE in dressing recipes. This is the way it was made at my home when I was growing up. I have made a "side dish" of this today and look forward to 2-3 days of piggin' out. Thanks for sharing a time honored recipe!

      Yum, a great recipe. Easy to follow and very tasty. We used only white bread crumbs as we don't care for cornbread, but it was still great. Thanks for a recipe that added just the right touch to our Thanksgiving table.
