Sausage Crescent Breakfast Casserole

"This is a tastey breakfast casserole that can be done in under an hour! You can make it spicy or mild depending on which cheese you decide to use. Or you can mix them and choose the middle ground. For kids, I usually have to choose the mozzarella though. For adults, I sometimes add some green chiles or a seeded jalepeno, chopped very fine. But I really like heat. I also sometimes increase the garlic!"

Questions & Replies

  1. Is this baking time correct? Most casseroles like this take 45 to an hour to bake . Wanting to make sure before I make this

  2. Can the ingredients be combined the night before?

Reviews

  1. My brother Chris made it and he is 14. We used sharp chedder instead of Monterey Jack. We also used cresent rolls I put them up to the top of the pan then I pushed them half way down, it made a perfect crust. My mother said "No! It will make it soggy!" It really didn't. It's DELICIOUS!!!! But it was for lunch.

  2. Now that the weather is nicer, we seem to be getting more & more overnight company, & I was actually able to fix this for 6 of us the other morning! I took to heart some of the suggestions when making this VERY, VERY TASTY BREAKFAST & used 2 large cloves of garlic, added some green chiles, left out the cayenne pepper, & did do a sausage combo ~ half mild & half sweet Italian sausage! Thanks for a great new breakfast recipe keeper! [Tagged, made & reviewed in Zaar Stars Tag]

  3. Make sure you read the disclaimer on the oven time...15 minutes or until set. Mine looked awesome, but when I sliced into it, it was still liquid.

  4. I love this casserole! This is so easy and the results are terrific. I will be using this recipe again. My family enjoyed it as well!

  5. Very tasty and so easy to make! I cut the cheese back to only 2 cups and the milk to 1/2 cup and it came out perfect.

Tweaks

  1. I prepared this - scaled back - as a breakfast for two although I still used two eggs. As I had in another recipe, I used croissants in place of the crescent rolls - which I think is as close as I could get - and used mild pork sausages as we don't like hot or spicy ingredients and mozzarella cheese. Very tasty. Thanks for sharing this recipe. Made for Everyday is a Holiday.
