      This recipe is really more about the method than an exciting new flavor experience...but that being said it nails that yummy sweet/sour/astringent flavor experience that you would want from a sausage dish. I halved the recipe, and since my crock pot is huge I was afraid of burning it so I put the layers in an 8 x 8 pan and baked, covered, until the onions and apples were tender. I did add a pinch of dill; just seemed like the thing to do. I also skipped the cheese and served with noodles since DH and I aren't low carb-ers. Next time I will add more caraway, just based on personal preference. Thanks for posting; I will definitely make this again and will try the full recipe in the crock pot next time. Made for My 3 Chefs.
