    The faculty where DH teaches has frequent potlucks. Lois often brings this tasty dish and it is always well received. It is also an easy work/school week supper that my family enjoys.

    Directions:

      In a skillet, melt butter, saute onions and apples until onions are translucent.
    2. 2
      Meanwhile rinse and drain sauerkraut; place in a large crock pot.
    3. 3
      Stir ketchup, dill and onion-apple mixture into sauerkraut.
    4. 4
      Slice Kielbasa into 2-inch rounds.
    5. 5
      Stir Kielbasa into sauerkraut.
    6. 6
      Cook on low setting for 7-9 hours. (Cooking time may vary based on the brand and age of your crock pot. I still use an old one that takes 7-9 hours for cooking this recipe.).

      Very good recipe! The ketchup adds just enough background flavor to keep it interesting. I did sub 1/2 tsp caraway seeds for the dill, as a personal preference.

      Great stuff! Sweet, sour and tangy. This is terrific by itself or over mashed potatoes. I used reduced-fat turkey kielbasa to save some fat calories. I'll be making this again. Thanx!
