Saucy Sonoran Cube Steak

A speedy, inexpensive main course perfect for weekday dinners. Adjust the amount of taco seasoning to suit your taste. Serve them on Texas toast with a tossed salad.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • Steak

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning mix
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 (4 ounce) beef cube steaks or 4 (4 ounce) pork cube steaks
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Sauce

  • 34 cup bottled ranch dressing
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning mix
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro

Directions

  1. Steak: Combine bread crumbs and taco mix in a shallow dish.
  2. Brush cube steaks with oil and press both sides of the steaks into the crumbs.
  3. Heat remaining oil in a non-stick skillet, cook steaks over medium high heat, 3-4 minutes per side.
  4. Sauce: While steaks are cooking, combine dressing and taco mix in a small sauce pan over medium heat, stirring until hot.
  5. Add cilantro and spoon over steaks just before serving.

This was very tasty! A little on the salty side, which is perfect for my taste! I skipped on the cilantro (Ick!), and ended up using the entire packet of taco seasoning-divided between the sauce and breading. I did have trouble with the oil in the dressing separating from the sauce (I used Kraft buttermilk Ranch) but I think that was because I cooked it too long/hot...It looked a little funky and glumpy but it still tasted fantastic!! This is going into my 'Every day Favorites' cookbook!! Thank you for posting!!

This was great! I tripled the recipe to make enough for my and I admit I left out the Cilantro but just because I do not like it. My grandson even ate seconds and he is a real picky eater.

DH & I thought this dish was ok, but it's not something I would plan on making again. Don't get me wrong - we liked it and if someone made it for me I would most certainly eat it without hesitation - it's just not something I will make very often.
