For the most part I made this as given, but since 'relish' for me brings to mind sweet pickle relish, I decided to use a homemade chutney instead & that worked out great! Another time I might just substitute shredded chicken breast for the hamburger, since I always have that in the freezer! Thanks for sharing the recipe! [Tagged & made in Please Review My Recipe]
Eek! I forgot to rate this. We really like this - it's a nice change from the traditional Sloppy Joe. Once again, I didn't do it in a crockpot - just did it with a skillet on the stove, but no crime, no foul. My dd calls these "CHEEEZY Joes" - all of us call them YUM! In fact, it's on the menu for tonight!
Sam, you are a genius. I have been using my tried and true sloppy joe recipe for years--a little of this, a little of that--but now I have a NEW, GREAT recipe! I never would have thought to add relish or Velveeta--this is a great addition and makes it tangy and, oh, so cheesy! My DH had two and DD had FOUR sloppy joes! She ususally doesn't eat nearly this much, but said this recipe is 10 stars. Thanks for publishing this--I will use it often. I used my warming oven--low (slow cooking function) for six hours. Delish, and no clean-up! UPDATE: We had these again for the Super Bowl, and there was not a crumb left anywhere. The men raved about it!
This is really good and very easy. Loved the flavor of these with the relish and barbecue sauce. Thanks for sharing!
This was very good. I used ground chicken and 2% sharp cheddar for cheese. Store was out of velveta :( It turned out great and made a easy dinner. DH ate 3 sandwiches. I want to try again with velveta. Thanks for the great recipe.
