A really great basic salmon pattie recipe - I could not use the onion due to intolerance reasons but otherwise made as directed just upping the amount and using a 410 gram can of pink slamon and a 210 gram can of red salmon with a heap of left over mashed potato (dry mix not smooth). The DH reconned the mix needed an egg in it but I had to disagree as the patties formed and coioked really well at about 5 to 6 minutes per side (I got 7 patties at 150 grams each - yes I weighed them on the scales for uniformity) and they were crispy on the outside and warmed inside (I did refrigerate for about 1 hour before cooking to set the burgers). Thank you Sara 76 for great recipe and to Averybird for her recommendation, made for I Recommend Tag Game.
This was just what I was looking for. My grandma used to make fish cakes like this! I think she used white fish of some sort. The salmon could not have been easier, as I used the boneless skinless one, and the onion added a lovely sweet crunch to the pattys. I would recomend chilling the patties before dipping and breading to make them easier to handle! Thanks Sara these rock!
Great comfort food! Fairly easy to make too!
Nice little recipe. These potato-salmon cakes fry up a beautiful golden brown and taste great with tartar sauce or a cocktail/mayo mixture. TIP: Non-metric conversions are (440g= 1 lb salmon; 1kg= 2.2 lb potatoes). The last review is correct in that these are more like potato-salmon cakes, with the salmon present but not the main flavor in the cakes. A great way to use up leftover salmon, plus hubby couldn't get enough of them! Will make again, thank you Sara 76.
This recipe has a lot of potential. I would suggest halving the amount of potatos. This seemed to be more of a potato cake with a little bit of salmon. I would also pair it with a sauce.
Yum! Only change I made was to use raw onion instead of sautee first and cooked over a well oiled BBQ plate. Was really quick to put together and great with a light salad.
These patties were easy to make and were very, very tasty. First time I've been able to keep patties from falling apart...I did add about 2 tablespoons of Hellman's mayonnaise....
