Recipe courtesy Paula Deen. One that she used quite a bit in the "old" days! They don't need anything but sometimes we serve them with a horseradish/chive low-fat sour cream.

Wow! These simple cakes were so good, easy and frugal. Everyone loved them - this is huge! As stated, the recipe serves 2 of us as a main dish, so next time I'll double. Thanks for posting this

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 (6 ounce) can salmon, flaked
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, diced
  • 12 cup breadcrumbs
  • vegetable oil, for frying


  1. Over medium heat, heat oil in a mdeium skillet.
  2. Combine canned salmon, beaten egg, green onions and 1/4 cup bread crumbs.
  3. Form into patties and dust with additional bread crumbs.
  4. Fry until golden brown, about 2 minutes on each side.
