Salisbury Steak My Style

"This is my version of Salisbury Steak. I looked at quite a few of the recipes here for Salisbury Steak and I've taken bits and pieces of some and my own additions and subtractions and came up with this."

  • STEAKS.
  • mix the ground beef, v8, salt, pepper, italian seasoning, dried onions, garlic powder, egg bread crumbs and Worcestershire sauce together in a medium bowl.
  • form into 6 oval patties about 1/2 inch thick.
  • cover and let sit in refrigerator for 3-4 hours.
  • after refrigeration heat 2 tbs oil in a saute pan.
  • add 3 steaks at a time and brown on both sides until just cooked through.
  • remove steaks and add to gravy pan.
  • repeate the previous 2 steps with the remaning steaks.
  • let steaks simmer in gravy for 20 minutes.
  • GRAVY.
  • in the mean time slice yellow onion into thin rings.
  • saute onion rings in 2 tbsp olive oil on low heat until very soft.
  • add mushrooms
  • melt butter in the pan and add flour creating a roux.
  • turn heat up to high.
  • whisk in beef broth until lump free.
  • turn heat down to low and simmer.
