  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan.
  3. Add onion and cook until softened.
  4. Add water and chicken base (4 cups chicken stock may be substituted).
  5. Add pepper or saffron.
  6. Stir.
  7. Bring to a boil.
  8. Add Rice. Stir.
  9. Add beans and peas.
  10. Stir.
  11. Cover.
  12. Bake for 20 minutes.

This was a very nice rice dish, which I served with Portuguese Chicken Madeira. I added only peas (as I didn't have any green beans on hand), and I think it made for a very complete side dish. Thanks for posting, cookiedog. Made for ZWT5.

I left out the green beans but otherwise followed the recipe. We enjoyed it very much!
