Craving a Root Beer Float but not the calories. Try this, it taste like the real thing. Only 1 WW point.
- 1 can diet root beer, chilled (or use your favorite kind of zero point soda)
- 1⁄2 cup frozen Cool Whip Free
- Place the frozen Cool Whip in a tall glass and pour the cold root beer over.
- Tastes like the real thing!
I wouldn't say that it tastes like the real thing, but it is ok. I was torn between 3 and 4 stars for this, because my coolwhip looked sort of odd in the cup and was vaguely unappealing. But I found that if I let the coolwhip sit in the cold soda for a bit it got the hard consistency that I like for my floats to have, and that improved it. Not as creamy as a regular float. And I would probably be more satisfied with a float using fat free 1 point for 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream. But in a pinch, it satisfies that need for something sweet. Thanks, Audrey! A footnote: The first time I made this I used Diet Dr Pepper and it was ok. But I made it again with root beer and was much happier. I also reduced the amount of soda a bit (I just used a smaller glass) but kept the coolwhip at the same amount and that improved this tremendously!
