This bbq recipe did well for my husband and I. We found smoking wood at and everything combined well. We did this recipe 4th of July. Awesome!

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 boneless pork shoulder (6-to 8-pound)
  • 1 (18 ounce) bottlesweet barbecue sauce
  • 1 (12 ounce) can root beer
  • 1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
  • salt and black pepper
  • hamburger bun (optional)
  • potato chips and pickle (optional)

  1. Coat inside of CROCK-POT slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Combine pork, barbecue sauce, root beer, dry soup mix, salt and pepper in CROCK-POT slow cooker; turn pork to coat. Cover; cook on LOW 8 to 10 hours.
  3. Remove pork to large cutting board; shred with two forks. Serve on buns, if desired. Serve with chips and pickles, if desired.
  4. Note: Unless you have a 5-, 6- or 7-quart CROCK-POT slow cooker, cut any roast larger than 2 ½ pounds in half so it cooks completely.
