"A good old fashioned spice cookie with a rough texture."

• Yields: 60 Cookies
• Serves: 12

ingredients

• 1 cup soft shortening
• 1 1⁄2 cups brown sugar
• 3 eggs
• 3 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 2 teaspoons cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon clove
• 1 cup chopped walnuts
• 1 lb pitted coarsely chopped dates

directions

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs.
3. Combine dry ingredients except dates and nuts.
4. Stir dry ingredients into wet.
5. Fold in dates and nuts.
6. Drop by round teaspoons 2" apart onto greased baking sheet.
7. Bake 8 to 10 Min.
