I chose this recipe as I wanted to try the Au Jus to go along with another roast beef sandwich recipe. This is so full of flavor and really makes a French Dip type of sandwich awesome!! I made 1/2 of the recipe and had more then enough for the two sandwiches. Prior to serving, I poured the mixture through a sieve into the little cups. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Made for Spring 2013 Pick A Chef event.
I slowly heated leftover thinly sliced roast beef in the au jus before placing on the broiled bread. Added a bit of horseradish to give it a bit of zing. Super tasty. Thanks for sharing Lorraine3!
Very, very tasty! I find a lot of au jus in restaurants to be too salty, this was perfectly savory and rich. I made it for a baby shower and it was a huge hit!
I was looking for a au jus that I could make with what I had on hand. I made this and my wife loved it! She is my toughest critic. I agree with her, the au jus was delicious. We had some leftover prime rib from Christmas that we shaved and made the sandwiches with. A wonderful meal from leftovers.
First let me say the flavor of this au jus was absolutely delicious. Although I think I would of preferred finely chopped fresh herbs instead. The bread I had bought was Hoagie rolls and I had used Boar's Head Roast Beef from the Deli. I had assembled everything at home and then wrapped the sandwiches in aluminum foil and when I got to work I just popped them into the oven still wrapped for about 10 minutes. Worked out good. Great flavor combination, I really enjoyed them but my friend would of preferred provolone cheese instead, but he liked these anyways and ate it all up. This was great because it is really fast to make and put together. Thanks for a yummy recipe Lorraine3
I only used this recipe for the au jus portion. I made a rib roast and needed some dipping sauce. This au jus was delish! It had a fantastic herbed flavor that was enhanced with the richeness of the red wine. I would make this dip again for sure. Complimented a lovely roast.
This by FAR is the best Au Jus recipe I have EVER had--it turned my ordinary French Dip Sandwich into something extraordinary!! I cooked a rump roast in the crock pot all day, shredded it and mixed a portion of this sauce in with the shredded meat for flavor. I saved the rest for dip. We broiled the buns with cheese--and sat down to eat and Wow! This turned one of my favorite dishes-- French Dip Sandwiches-- into a delicasy! I had no idea they could taste so good! My family Loved it! Thank You, Thank You for sharing this recipe!
sooooo delicious! i didn't use any red wine and it was the best beef dip sauce i've every had. so savory. we used cheddar cheese. this is my new keeper!!
We had some leftover rib eye steaks so I thought I'd make an au jus and have French dip sandwiches. This au jus was wonderful... I absolutely love garlic but it was not too overpowering. I did not make it with the boursin cheese but instead saute'd some onions and served with the thinly sliced rib eye steak on baguettes with the sauce and it was heavenly! Thanks so much for sharing!
