I am also from Wisconsin & I think this is an excellant choice any time of the year! This is my husbands favorite meal with fried potatoes. I will be making this many times. Thanks for posting.
Our Festival Foods had 16-oz. rings of beef bologna on sale for $1.25, so my husband purchased one of them. Was checking on line for a quick easy recipe to make with it, and I came across this recipe. I cooked mine pretty much as written, but I used a 28-oz. can of Bush's Maple Cured Bacon Baked Beans (including the liquid from the canned beans). I did bake mine a bit longer in the oven, 40 minutes (covered) and then 5 minutes (uncovered). While my husband didn't seem to care for this dish, I on the other hand thought it was good. Maybe my husband would of like it more if I'd a used a different flavor of Bush's Baked Beans, and added some barbecue sauce to it as another person suggested. By the way... loved the addition of bacon to this dish!! WI Cheesehead, thank you for sharing this recipe!
let's not "under-do" it. I added some chopped green peppers, garlic, and a 3 TBs of sweet BBQ sauce. made it a little more palatable.
I am from pa and ive been looking for different meals to make for my 6 children, something yummy for these cold days! I ran across this recipe and my my if looks great!! So tonight i will be making this for my children.. I also liked the idea of the fried potatoes with it.. Sounds wonderful.. Thanks again:)
Enjoyed this a lot and very easy to put together. I used Bush beans and did add the onion and bacon. The weather has been dreary and cold here so this was a warm and filling comfort food for us. Will definitely make this again! Thank you WI Cheesehead for posting. Made and reviewed for the Kid's Forum Recipe Tag Game.
I like this so I'm giving it 5 stars. My husband didn't like this so I doubt I'll make it much. But I will if I get the chance. Thanks.
An extremely easy dish to toss together, and delicious to boot! I did add the bacon, and will make this again. Thanks for sharing. Nick's Mom
