  1. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
  3. Combine flour, soda and salt.
  4. Add flour mixture alternately with water.
  5. Stir in buttermilk and bran flakes.
  6. Cover bowl and store in refrigerator.
  7. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 375º.
  8. Spoon batter into greased or paper-lined muffin cups.
  9. Bake 20 minutes if batter is room temperature; bake 30 minutes if batter is straight from the refrigerator.
  10. Batter will keep up to 10 days in the refrigerator.
