These were so flavorful! I simmered the sauce in a pan on the stove while I grilled the hot dogs. I melted some american cheese on top, added some diced pickled jalapenos in the sauce, and topped it with fresh diced tomatoes. Since I didn't cook the sauce as long as the recipe suggests, I cut back on the vinegar. It was still super tangy, sweet, and spicy. Delish!

Haute Dog! Elevates the plain dog to a higher level. Pass it on. Made for A-NZ#60.

Really enjoyed these dogs. Followed recipe to the T. Also cooked some beer brats and tried the sauce on them. Wow. Thanks to you and your mom for the keeper.

These were FANTASTIC!! Such a change from the "chili dog"- but still wonderful. I don't know that I will have chili on my hot dog ever again. I LOVED the nice sweet-n-tangy flavor. Thanks so much- made for the French Forum Spice of the Month- Paprika/2010.

Loved these dogs! So I wouldn't eat two, I had to eat a boat load of salad first and jam-pack myself full with lettuce, so I wouldn't go for another. These are highly addictive, and I am in love! I changed the serving size down to "2" and reduced the sugar to accommodate that change. I did however add more hot sauce, (like a FULL teaspoon - as I LOVE hot sauce) and I am glad I did. These were little devils, and I adored them! I will be making this lots! I threw a couple purple onions on top, and I especially loved the method of baking the dogs/sauce together. Who knew? Will be making this again and often! Made for *Paprika Month* French Forum March 2010.

The hot dogs at Weinerschnitzel used to be my favorite hot dog......no longer! These are terrific tasting. I followed the directions exactly, but can see how using different types of condiments would change everything! I had a couple left over, so wrapped in foil and threw in fridge......took them out this afternoon for lunch.....into a 350F oven for 20 minutes.....Voila!......even better than fresh......crisped up the bun a little, too. I think we could probably freeze them and have a quick meal on those nites you don't really want to cook! Thnx for sharing M2R. Made for French Country Kitchen Herb/Spice of the Month Mar 2010.

I did this using turkey sausages and it was great to bake them and avoid a spattering frypan. It worked really well, was quite 'hot' which was great as I am tired of bland. My relish was mango chutney. I think this is the way to go with sausages from now on .

Very tasty!!! I followed the advice of a reviewer --slathering the bun with mayo, shredded lettuce and topped with shredded cheese. DELICIOUS new way to jazz up hot dogs. Made of the Aussie/NZ Recipe Swap #35.

We thought this was tasty. It wasn't exactly what we expected, because it was more sweet-n-sour than hot. Next time I would cut down on both the sugar and vinegar and increase the hot sauce a little. Thanks for sharing this yummy, easy, economical dinner.

What a surprize these where. I was reading over recipes looking for something to do with a pkg. of hot dogs. I found this one, read thru the recipe and then the reviews. Afterwards I decided that this would be a hot dog sloppy joe type of thing. I don't know if you serve these with condiments or not. But I decided I to try a red hot devil on a wheat bun with no condiments. That was good, but the next one I added mayo on the wheat bun, a Red Hot Devil, shredded lettuce, more onions and cheddar on top. They both are good!! This recipe turns regular ol' hot dogs from a sow's ear to a Cindrella slipper. I used 1 TBL or brown sugar, zucchini relish and Tobasco for the hot sauce. Next time, oh yeah there will be one, I will dice finely a jalapeno. I do think that the taste will depend on your type of hot dog, although any type will taste better with this sauce. Thank you for posting this keeper!

The recipe is easy to prepare with ingredients that are usually in the home. I put it together in 5 minutes and had it in the oven baking while I prepared the rest of the dinner. It was done in no time and the taste was spicey, not too hot for kids, and a delicious new way to have hot dogs. Yummmmm!

This a terrific way to jazz up a regular hotdog. It was a tad too sweet for me, especially sine the baking concentrates the flavors. I might cut back on the ketchup and sugar a little. But overall I was very pleased with this. I did a few differently for my husband since he dislikes ketchup and "sauce" in general. I made up a mixture of relish, onion, vinegar and sugar for his and he really enjoyed that.

Wow - that red sauce packs a little punch!! Nice balance of sweet and sour!! Will make this one again and again!! Could even use this sauce over mini-hotdogs or cut up ones in a crockpot for a party or potluck!!
