directions

• For the cupcakes:.
• Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
• Mix butter and sugar in a bowl until fluffy. Add eggs, mix again, and then add vanilla.
• Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together in a separate bowl. Also, if you haven't already, measure out the milk and the Red Bull (you can mix them into the same measuring cup, but it looks a little funky.).
• Alternate between adding the dry ingredients and wet ingredients to the batter. Add food color to your heart’s desire.
• Fill your cupcake pan with batter.
• Bake for 20 minutes, then let cool. Brush tops with more Red Bull, if desired.
• For the frosting:.
• Cream butter, add half the red bull, then add powdered sugar 1/2-1 cup at a time, mixing as you go.
• Add the rest of the Red Bull for flavor/consistency as desired.
• Add icing coloring as desired to achieve a bright blue.

Questions & Replies

1. These did not go well. I really think they just ended up potentially under cooked? Has anyone tried these and needed to bake them longer for the 20 minutes recommended? Perhaps it was something on my end because I do need to use gluten-free flour and a sugar substitute… Although I used the appropriate conversions…

1. Hey so I followed your instructions and I came with *almost* the same result. I think it tasted pretty good, but it took about 45 minutes to bake. Instead of 12 Tbs of butter, I used 13, but I think it still came out pretty good. Thanks so much for the recipe!

2. Yummy! For the cupcake, I didn't have whole milk, so I used half & half and 2% milk... very fluffy and moist. For the frosting, I add 2 oz. of cream cheese and still taste delicious with the flavor. I took the Red Bull Cupcakes for my hubby's NG Drill and everyone loved it!

3. You wouldn't think that Red Bull could make cupcakes taste delicious -but it definitely does. My boyfriend doesn't like sweets, yet he LOVES these cupcakes! They're perfect for kids or fun parties.

4. Instead of cupcakes, I used this recipe to make a two-layer cake. It came out great, and it's definitely one of the prettiest cakes that I've made thanks to the bright vivid colors (don't skimp on the food coloring, for sure). I actually love the strange, tangy taste of Red Bull, and was really hoping the cake would end up tasting like it. Alas, I could not taste the Red bull at all, and the cake instead tasted like Cap'n Crunch berries. I don't know why, it just did, but that's OK... I've always liked Cap'n Crunch berries.

5. I DON'T like Red Bull (not even a little), But these cupcakes honestly don't taste like red bull too much. They have a flavor all there own and its awesome. We made some for school and everyone loved them.

The whole ounce of red food coloring may seem like a lot, but it's not. It doesn't mess with the flavor. I recommend using Blue Gel food coloring for the icing. The liquid coloring may mess with the consistency a bit.

Be sure you actually still a toothpick in them to check them when baking. Don't guess by looking at them because they wont look like they're done due to the red bull making them look sticky-ish and shiny on top.

I'll be adding pictures when we bake a second batch tomorrow.
