Thick, rich and a nice little kick. These were were a hit served with fresh cornbread, green onions and Sweet and Tangy Brussels Sprouts. I used a spicy sausage and red bell pepper. Something I would make again.
Quick meal. I loved how all the ingredients were pantry staples. The favors were great. No left overs. I will make this again on a busy night
This was outstanding. I'll definitely add this to our dinner rotation as it was a big hit with my husband and oldest son. I did make some modifications to cut the calories and fat. I used 1lb of ground turkey sausage and reduced the oil to 1tbs. I only had a small can of diced tomatoes, but it worked out beautifully anyway. I omitted the dried red pepper flakes as we have lots of small children. When I put my version through a recipe analyzer a one cup serving without rice clocked in at 140 calories.
I won't have to look at any of the other red beans and rice recipes because this is a WINNER! I made your creole seasoning also. The only change I made to the recipe was I added a 1/2 tsp of the red pepper flakes. This reheats well and the flavor was even better the next day! Thanks!
I used Beef Sausage (link) and only had 1 can red kidney beans. I also did not have stewed tomatoes, but used 28 oz of diced canned. I did not have green bell pepper, but used 1/2 Red and 1/2 Yellow Bell Peppers. The red pepper flakes really kick this up. Thanks for posting.
This was very simple to make, Great flavor, fantastic color Only problem was with the time. I took for granted it was 30 min plus 10 min prep. I was surprised to find that it called for an additional 40 to 45 min cooking time
