My mother always made this for her lasagne, and one day I made it to go over pasta and my family loved it. If I alter it in any way, they know, and my son won't eat any other red sauce.
- Brown the italian sausage in a large skillet.
- Pour in the cans of crushed tomatoes and basil, salt and pepper to taste.
- Simmer for about an hour and serve.
- This is great over pasta, or as the red sauce in lasagne.
