An untraditional breakfast "beverage" to warm you up in the morning. I discovered this when we ran out of oatmeal and I needed something hot to get my day started right.

  1. Put everything in the blender and blend to your desired smoothness.
  2. Pour into a mug and microwave on high for 45-60 seconds.
  3. Enjoy!

I've done this without blending and heating and like the combination. aha! now to try it this way! adding some slices of banana to it after heating sounds good too. Adding a few more raisins to the mix before heating it works too! Thanks for the idea!

I've made this two different ways now, and I must say that the way it's posted is definitely better. The first time, I tried it with the Raisin Bran, some home-canned peaches, and cottage cheese; blended it all up, heated it, added a few raisins and almonds, and ate it like hot cereal. The combination of the warm peaches with the other stuff just wasn't all that great. Not terrible, but wouldn't make it that way again. Made it again this morning, as posted (but cut in half), adding Craisins, raisins, and almonds before microwaving, and it wasn't too bad. Probably not something I would opt for over traditional oatmeal, though. Thanks, though, for a new and different idea for breakfast!

I made this this morning for breakfast. I used 1/2 cup homemade applesauce(see recipe number 12802), 1/2 cup high protein soy milk, 1/8 tsp. cinnamon and 1/2 cup raisin bran cereal. After blending it all in my blender, I microwaved it in a bowl on HIGH for 1 minute. In the meantime, I sliced a banana. Once the beverage was out of the oven after a minute's time, I added the banana slices to it, mixed it well and ate it. It was quite okay.
